In a large pot, heat the butter or ghee to medium-high. Add the ground beef and cook for two to three minutes breaking up the beef as it cooks.
When the beef is about halfway cooked, add the onions and garlic and stir continuously for two more minutes.
Next, add the carrots and celery and continue stirring for another two minutes.
Add the mushrooms and seasonings. Stir for 2 to 3 minutes.
Pour in the water and broth and incorporate. Bring to a boil and then turn it down to a simmer, add a lid and cook for 15 minutes. Turn off the heat and serve.
